NUI EAA 8 essential amino acids is a food supplement with amino acids. EAA is short for “essential amino acids”. The daily dose of 3 capsules contains eight essential amino acids, so a pack of 60 capsules (42 g) lasts 20 days. The product is vegan.
What “essential” means
Amino acids are called essential when the body cannot make them itself. They have to be taken in with food. Nine amino acids belong to this group. NUI EAA contains eight of them; histidine is not included. The EU has not authorised any health claim for amino acids. That is why you will not find any statement here about what they do in the body.
The amounts per daily dose
3 capsules contain 342 mg L-leucine, 288 mg L-valine, 258 mg L-isoleucine, 249 mg L-lysine hydrochloride (of which 199 mg L-lysine), 224 mg L-phenylalanine, 193 mg L-threonine, 122 mg L-methionine and 64 mg L-tryptophan. Lysine is contained in the capsule as a hydrochloride. That is why the label gives two values: the amount of the compound and the share of L-lysine in it.
What else is in the capsule
Apart from the eight amino acids, the capsule contains only its shell made of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC). There is no gelatine, and the product is vegan. The capsule contains no anti-caking agents and no preservatives. HPMC (E 464), however, is a food additive. For this reason the product does not carry the “free from additives” badge.

Which amino acids are contained?

Are all essential amino acids included?
No. There are nine essential amino acids, and NUI EAA contains eight of them. Histidine is not included.
Why are there two values for lysine?
Lysine is contained in the capsule as L-lysine hydrochloride. 249 mg L-lysine hydrochloride per daily dose contain 199 mg L-lysine.
Is NUI EAA vegan?
Yes. The capsule shell is made of HPMC instead of gelatine, and the product contains no ingredients of animal origin.
