Noni leaves instead of noni fruit

NUI NONI Leaf Gel takes its name from one ingredient: it contains an extract from the leaves of the noni plant (Morinda citrifolia). NUI turns the fruit of the same plant into juice and purée; the gel uses the leaves. On the label the extract is called “Morinda Citrifolia leaf extract (NONI)” and comes fourth.

Water, aloe vera and two thickeners

The main ingredient is water, followed by glycerin and xanthan gum. Besides the noni extract, the gel contains juice from the leaves of aloe vera, listed as “Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice”. There are no oils, waxes or butters in the list. The thickeners xanthan gum and algin give it its gel texture.

The ingredients briefly explained

In the EU, the ingredients of a cosmetic product are listed in descending order of weight. Those below 1 % may follow at the end in any order. You will find the complete list under “Ingredients”.

• Glycerin – a colourless, viscous substance found in a great many creams and gels
• Xanthan gum – a thickener obtained by fermenting sugar
• Algin – a thickener from brown algae
• Allantoin – a crystalline substance used in skin care products for decades
• Tocopheryl acetate – a form of vitamin E

How to use the gel

Apply the gel to the relevant areas of skin and allow it to absorb. That is what the label says. Avoid contact with the eyes and do not use on broken skin.

Bottle and shelf life

The gel comes in a 30 ml or 100 ml bottle, and both sizes are also available in packs of 3 and 6. After opening, use it within 6 months. The open-jar symbol with “6M” on the label shows this.

Responsible in Dornbirn

The responsible person under the EU Cosmetics Regulation is the NUI cooperative (NUI – Genossenschaft für Gesundheit und Wohlbefinden eG) in Dornbirn, Vorarlberg, Austria. It is responsible for ensuring that the gel complies with that regulation.
